Privacy Policy

Cat Business Software (“we”) makes business-management software for pet-sitting businesses. Each business that uses the software (“the customer”) runs its own separate copy with its own database. This policy explains what the software stores, why, and what we do with it.

Who is responsible for the data

The customer business is the data controller for the information about its clients, pets, staff and bookings. Cat Business Software processes that information on the customer’s behalf to provide the software, and is the controller only for the account details of the customer itself.

What the software stores

• Client contact details, addresses and the pets and visits booked with the business.
• Staff names, roles, working availability and pay rates set by the business.
• Invoices, payments and the notes and photographs staff record during a visit.
• Sign-in credentials, stored as one-way hashes, and session cookies.
• Messages exchanged through the software between the business, its staff and its clients.

QuickBooks Online

A customer may connect its QuickBooks Online company. When it does, the software stores the OAuth access and refresh tokens Intuit issues, encrypted at rest, together with the QuickBooks identifiers of the customers, invoices and payments it creates. The software sends paid invoices and their payments to QuickBooks and reads back the customer list and the records it created, using Intuit’s Accounting API only. It does not read bank feeds, payroll or payment-card data, and it never asks for a QuickBooks password. The connection can be removed at any time from the software’s settings or from the customer’s Intuit account, after which the stored tokens are deleted.

Where the data is kept

The software is hosted on Vercel and its database on Neon, both in the London (United Kingdom) region. Backups are held by those providers in the same region. Email is sent through the customer’s own mail provider using credentials the customer supplies.

Who can see it

Only the customer business, its staff (to the extent the business permits) and its clients (their own records only). Cat Business Software accesses a customer’s database only to provide support the customer has asked for or to fix a fault, and never sells or shares the data. We do not use it for advertising or to train any model.

How long it is kept

For as long as the customer keeps its account. A customer can delete its business records at any time from within the software. When a customer leaves, its database is deleted within 30 days of the account closing.

Your rights

Under UK data-protection law you may ask to see, correct or delete personal information held about you. If you are a client or staff member of a business that uses the software, please ask that business first, since it controls the data; we will help it respond. We will update this page when the software’s handling of data changes, and the date at the top will change with it.
